My mother was diagnosed with two primary cancers : 1. breast cancer ( 4th stage ) and 2. Ovarian cancer (3rd or 4th stage ) I don't recall because they were back to back , she passed away in 2005. It troubles me that I still do not have a good understanding of both her cancers ... did one cause the other ? Is it in our family ?

How common are two primary cancers? I thought it was more likely that my mothers breast cancer metastasized and via lymph nodes and went to her ovaries . The oncologist said that was not possible. He said that breast cancer will travel to the lungs other breast , brain .. but not to the ovaries . Is this a fact or theory ?
