How Stage 2 Breast Cancer Is Diagnosed?

When a tumor has a diameter of 2 centimeters but have not reach 5 centimeters it is diagnosed as stage 2A breast carcinoma. During this phase the malignant cells are confined within the tissues of the breast and have not spread towards the auxiliary lymph nodes.

On the other hand when a tumor has grown atleast 2 centimeters in diameter but has not reached 5 centimeters and has spread towards the auxiliary lymph nodes this is to be considered as stage 2 breast cancer type B.

During this type of stage 2 breast carcinoma, the breast cancer survival rates drop down to just 76 to 81 percent ratio of cure and this is highly due to the spread of the tumor to the other parts of the body besides the breast tissues.

If we compare the survival rates of stage 1 breast cancer which is at 98 to 100 percent chance of survival, stage 2 cancer survival rates are still pretty decent. But that doesn’t mean one has to lax in regards to her health. Proper detection and treatment procedures in the earliest stage are the key to having a high breast cancer survival rate.

Stage 2 Breast Cancer Detection

At the tender age of 20, a woman should start examining her breast for tumors. At the age of 40, a woman should undergo a procedure called mammography to determine if there is a malignant growth in her breast.

There are several factors that can increase one’s risk of breast cancer. A unhealthy lifestyle, like smoking and lack of exercise are key contributors in increasing one’s risk of having any type of cancer. Women should remember to care of their body properly.

At the initial signs of Stage 2 Breast Cancer the woman should see a doctor to verify if she is indeed having this life threatening disease.
